2010 Saab 9-5 -Photos,Price,Specifications,Reviews Posted: 21 Sep 2010 05:27 AM PDT
The all-new 2010 Saab 9-5 Sedan car innovation signals the dawn of an original era for the Saab car maker company. The 2010 Saab 9-5 Sedan all-turbo power train line-up is the broadest ever presented by Saab, carrying forward Saab's rightsizing engine strategy focusing on responsible tuning car performance with the development of highly efficient four cylinder turbo engines. The 2010 Saab 9-5 is redesigned with freshened styling, more power, and new features. This premium-midsize car comes as a 4-door sedan, which shares elements of its basic design with the 2011 Buick Regal. Note that General Motors no longer owns Saab. The company is owned by Spyker Cars N.V., a Dutch builder of exotic cars. A 4-door wagon might arrive in calendar 2011. For the 2010 model year, 9-5 comes in a single Aero trim level with standard all-wheel drive. Its sole powertrain teams a 300-horsepower 2.8-liter turbocharged V6 engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags. A sport suspension is standard. Among the available features are a head-up display, bi-xenon headlights, tri-zone climate control, and a navigation system with hard drive for storing digital-music files. We have not yet tested the 2010 Saab 9-5. The new 9-5 rides on a 2.84 meter (111.8″) wheelbase which should offer plenty of room in the passenger compartment. The increase in room also extends to the truck, where cargo capacity measures a healthy 513 liters (18.11 cubic feet). Engine options will include a three turbocharged petrol units: a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 160hp, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 210hp, and a 2.8-liter V6 with 300hp. Diesel power will be provided by two 2.0-liter units which will produce 160 hp and 190 hp. Eventually a petrol-electric hybrid is expected, as is a biofuel model. Look for the new Saab 9-5 sedan to go on sale in Europe in April 2010, with a base price around €35,000. |
