The 2011 Ford F-450 Super Duty review

The Ford F series trucks are world famous with their versatility and refinement happening in its trucks every year, the latest F series heavy-duty trucks are surely a combination of power and strength. It is one of the most preferred heavy-duty pick up trucks today. The new F-450 has the best towing capabilities along with greater configuration and optional features; the machine provides you a refined ride along with excellent handling on the roads. The only drawback in this machine is because of its wider width size; the truck looks really huge and can cause traffic or parking problems. The latest 2011 Ford F-450 super duty is a completely refreshed model with greater exterior styling of the machine that comes with six speed automatic transmission options. The machine is powered for the commercial purposes with a sole chassis cab. As compared to its other siblings – the Ford F-250 and F-350, the new F-450 crew cab version is available with dual rear wheels; diesel fuel engine and a four wheel drive options.

The new Ford is exclusively available in crew cab body style option with 8-foot long bed having dual rear wheels. The availability of four trim level options of the work truck XL, the XLT, the Lariat and the King Ranch helps the buyers to choose from different configuration and other machine options. Let us discuss the features of the base XL model, it comes with standard equipments like air conditioning, 17 inch forged aluminum wheels, roof clearance lights, black grille and bumpers, manual telescoping trailer tow mirrors, vinyl upholstery, tilt and telescoping steering wheel option, floor coverings, two speaker AM/FM radio and 40/20/40 split front bench option features. Getting onto the mid-rang XLT trim adds other features like heated outside mirrors, chrome grille, bumpers, cruise control features, keyless entry, full power accessories, cloth seats, four speaker stereo with CD/MP3 player, lockable second row underseat storage facility, in-built trailer brake control option and auxiliary audio jack options. The Luxurious Lariat trim adds the luxurious features to the machine with 18 inch wheels, rear parking sensors, fog lights, dual zone automatic climate control, power telescoping mirrors, chrome tubular step bars and upgrades include interior upholstery. Other standard options in the machine include auto-dimming rearview mirror, 4.2 inch LCD multifunction screen, middle front seat that gets converted into center console, leather seats, 10 way power adjustable front seats, eight speaker audio system having satellite radio, the Ford Sync voice activation system control and many other options.

The top line King Ranch offers other power features that includes two-tone paint, unique exterior and interior features, body colored grille having chrome inserts, remote start, driver seat memory, upgrades on Chapparal leather upholstery, driver seat memory, heated and ventilated seats and rearview camera options. You can avail of various options available as standard in the upscale Lariat and King Ranch in the form of packages in the low trim levels. Other additions depending on the trim levels, include features like transmission power take-off, heavy duty alternators, stowable bed extender, fifth mounting points, sunroof, spray in bedliner, hard drive based navigation system, accessory switches and much more. The powertrain options in the super duty F-450 comes packaged with a strong 6.7 liter turbodiesel V8 engine that gives the output of 400 hp and 800 lb ft of torque options. The earlier F-450s gave the output of 390 hp and 735 lb ft torque; the Ford engineers are still trying to square up on better engines that could give more output and power to the machines. The machine consists of a six speed automatic transmission with a four-wheel drive as the standard options of the machine.

The standard safety options of the machine comes with trailer sway control, four wheel antilock disc brakes, front and side curtain airbags, hill launch assist and a post crash alert system options. the standard on the XLT trim comes with an integrated trailer brake controller while the high trims comes equipped with power adjustable pedals and rear parking sensors, also optional is the rearview camera on the XLT trims.
